Two first generation Ukrainian-American brothers George and Iggy know they are destined for great things. George is a wannabe business scion festering in a cell phone store. But they know that their situation has to be temporary– after all this is America. George meets Ella, a hipster transplant and sees her as his key to a life outside the neighborhood. Iggy is convinced that Yuriy, a promising rapper he is “managing,” will be his ticket to a life of luxury if he can just get his music to the right person. But both of them learn that their dreams are elusive and that unrealized ones can make a person lose their mind.

One voice, one piano is all that minimalist French outfit Madeleine & Salomon need to create their hypnotic version of MA FATSH LEAH, the single from their second album, Eastern Spring, which covers a choice selection from the repertoire of ‘60s/’70s Mediterranean folk-pop. Clotilde’s melancholic voice tells of a young woman tortured by the interminable wait for her lover in the emancipated Cairo of the 1970s, while the bewitching piano of Alexandre Saada conjures the buzz of a restless city that feeds the sweet madness of her hope, and ours with it. As soon as we have reached the end of this interior journey, we have but one desire: to start all over again.

Neurolink

In a near future, we meet Frida (22), who undergoes a brain implant – a Neurolink. The chip communicates with her in the form of a voice inside her head, helping her towards a happier life. For a while, she lives without worries as she unquestioningly follows the voice's advice. However, the voice begins to take more and more control. Eventually, the Neurolink app takes over Frida, and she no longer recognizes herself. In an attempt to regain control, Frida deletes the app. It turns out, however, not to be so easy. After a brief feeling of freedom, the voice returns, leading to a battle to permanently delete the chip.

Nobody Meets Your Eyes

Louis Le Prince syndrome is a condition that makes a person invisible to the naked eye. Tuomas and Ninni, who suffer from the condition, can only be observed through cameras and microphones. Tuomas is a single parent, whose daughter is the only person in the world who can see him with her own eyes. Ninni, a young woman in an emerging online relationship, meets her crush for the first time in the real world, but even then they need a camera between them. Every year, millions of new invisibles are born. The cause is unknown.

At only fourteen years old, Paula hates her body. In an attempt to express what she feels, Paula creates a blog and becomes part of a large virtual community that shares her problems. Shelter in anonymity, she uploads content recorded with her cell phone, exposing her friends and family. The feeling of belonging blinds Paula, who begins to walk a lonely path in which bulimia and anorexia lurk as alternatives in the search for self-acceptance.

Among the many dramatic episodes of the siege of Sarajevo from 1992 to 1996, the story of a human safari has remained concealed from the public eye. Only a select few were aware that on the Serbian side, the siege of Sarajevo involved not only the Bosnian Serb Army, volunteers and mercenaries but also another, small and clandestine group. These were wealthy foreigners who paid high fees for the chance to shoot at the residents of besieged Sarajevo.

Actress Judith is invited by young aspiring director Ferdinand to shoot a film on the Atlantic coast of southern France. But even during the first shooting attempts, it becomes apparent that Ferdinand's perfectionist vision is difficult to realize. Over time, an unseen force begins to slowly unravel the film, like Ferdinand's nostalgically transfigured dream. What remains is a flood of images that increasingly lose their meaning. Judith finds herself confronted with the invisible force and with Ferdinand's urge to want to control everything around her, and she rebels.

Even with the work we put in to meet expectations, especially our own, that gnawing feeling of inadequacy persists. Perhaps we never lose our inner child, but rather become blind to its whims, both good and bad. Maybe growing up is about befriending and reconciling with that child, rather than searching to control it. Could it be that the inner child we all have is what binds us all together?

The Pigeon of Waterloo

The Pigeon of Waterloo is a 15-minute short film that tells the story of Kirk, a man who wears a pigeon mask to escape from reality while finding his true identity. We follow Kirk throughout the day when he reconnects with his estranged teenage daughter, Macy. He realises how others, including his child, perceive him and what he must do to accept himself. Both characters are in different stages of their lives yet they are both lost in a complicated, fast-moving world. They find themselves in a similar situation where they struggle to discover who they truly are. Starring BAFTA nominee David Carlyle and Evangeline Rose.
